NVIDIA has announced the discovery of vulnerabilities affecting GeForce, RTX, Quadro, NVS, and Tesla GPUs and has issued an urgent update to users. These vulnerabilities can allow malicious actors to gain unauthorized access to systems, steal sensitive information, and even take control of devices.
Vulnerabilities for NVIDIA GPUs
NVIDIA has issued an urgent update warning for graphics card users. The company said that eight discovered vulnerabilities put systems at risk and users should update their drivers as soon as possible.
The vulnerabilities affect GeForce, RTX, Quadro, NVS, and Tesla graphics cards and can lead to unauthorized access and attacks. NVIDIA warned that without an update, an authorized attacker could elevate permissions on the system or an unauthorized user could access the computer.
This can have serious consequences, including remote code execution, denial-of-service attacks, privilege escalation, information leakage and data destruction. NVIDIA recommends that users download and install the latest drivers from the NVIDIA Driver Download page or through the GeForce Experience app.
This includes GeForce version 566.03, RTX/Quadro/NVS R565 series version 566.03, RTX/Quadro/NVS R550 series version 553.24, and RTX/Quadro/NVS R535 series version 538.95.
This is a big problem for NVIDIA as it struggles with major competitors in the technology market. The company recently replaced Intel Corp in the Dow Jones Industrial Index (DJIA). This change took place as part of the index’s quarterly rebalancing.
